Álvarez Ampudia, Diego
Perfil
Diego Álvarez joined Ramos, Ripoll & Schuster in June 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara Campus, and a Master’s degree in Energy and Natural Resources Law from Queen Mary University of London, which he earned through a Chevening scholarship awarded by the British government.
He has also completed postgraduate studies in commercial arbitration, project finance, and energy law. Upon completing his studies in London, he completed a professional internship at the international law firm Clifford Chance in 2018.
Experiencia Profesional
With over 12 years of experience, Diego has specialized his practice in infrastructure and energy projects, as well as in international arbitration.
Diego has advised a wide range of domestic and international clients on the negotiation, structuring, financing, and execution of diverse and complex large-scale infrastructure and energy projects in Mexico and Latin America at all stages.
In the area of infrastructure, Diego has participated in all stages of projects such as highways, hospitals, rail projects, ports, dams, gas pipelines, and airports. Additionally, Diego has extensive experience in public-private partnerships, having advised clients on the successful implementation of these schemes at the federal, state, and municipal levels, as well as assisting various governments on related matters, including the drafting of state legislation in this area.
In the electricity sector, Diego has advised numerous clients throughout all phases of various types of generation projects using different technologies (including utility-scale and distributed photovoltaic, wind, combined-cycle, and geothermal), as well as in the construction of transmission lines, substations, and other types of electrical infrastructure. Diego consistently provides specialized regulatory advice on electricity matters for the structuring of new business and operational models.
Formación Académica
Diego has been a professor of private international law at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) since 2023.
He has authored numerous articles on energy, infrastructure, arbitration, and public-private partnerships. He regularly participates as a speaker and presenter at conferences, seminars, and programs on related topics in both Mexico and Latin America.
